Reels & Deals - Your Movie News 9/2/2010

Alright, so I spend more time than I will admit surfing the net and reading about movies and interesting tidbits about them and film in general.  As such, I have decided to pull together alot of the stories and interesting articles so anybody else who is as interested in film as me can peruse at their leisure.  These will hopefully be articles relevant to the casual movie-goer that doesn't scour the net for this info like I do.  I will try to make this a recurring post to make sure all are as up to date as the Jeff Report can make them.

January Jones added to the cast of 'X-Men: First Class'

January Jones of 'Mad Men' fame will join the cast of the X-Men prequel which is produced by Brian Singer (director of the first two X-Men movies).  The movie will center around the start of the X-Men group by Charles Xavier (Jame McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).  The Jeff Report is excited for this movie.

Beauty and the Beast is being re-released in 3-D

Pretty self explanatory.  Necessary?  No, but might be a cool diversion and a way for Disney top rack up more money after Toy Story 3.

Here's what the new villain, BlackBeard, will look like in the New POTC movie

They are unnecissarily making a fourth Pirates of the Carribbean movie.  This will hopefully not be as nonsensical as the previous two.  I will probably go see it.

Apple is redesigning Apple TV

You can set it up to your Netflix account and stream straight from there, new release HD movies will be $4.99 a pop for rental and you can rent TV episodes for $.99 (only ABC and Fox right now though).  Best part is you can stream anything from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch to your TV through Apple TV using Airplay.

DVD Releases this week:  Lost:  Season 6, Survival of the Dead (bad week for DVD releases)

Movies coming out this week 9/3:  (9/1) The American (George Clooney), Going the Distance (Justin Long, Drew Barrymore), Machete (Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro)

Last Week Box Office Champ (courtesy of boxofficemojo.com):  Takers - $20.5 Million

My Prediction for this weeks box office champ:  The American $17.3 Million
